Philly Pretzel Factory is a pretzel retail and wholesale bakery. It specializes in hand-rolled soft pretzels. They also make all kinds of other baked goods, such as cookies and brownies. Philly Pretzel Factory was founded in the mid 1980s by Harry Koutoujian and is now owned by his son, Aram Koutoujian. The company has more than 100 franchises worldwide with over 1,100 employees as of 2015.

Philly Pretzel Factory's international headquarters is located in Broomall PA . While the first store was opened in 1986, it wasn't until 1993 that Philly Pretzel Factory became franchised. Just this year (2015), there are about 80 new stores opening nationwide making it a total of 128 locations across the United States.

Philly Pretzel Factory got its trademark name from a contest with local school children in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania . The winning entry was " Philly Pretzel Factory ", and the company still uses that name to this day. Harry Koutoujian has been involved in several businesses, including being an executive vice president of development for Krispy Kreme Doughnuts and director of franchise business development at Dunkin' Donuts . He also worked as Vice President of Marketing for Reebok Apparel . After he retired, Harry decided to open his own business which would become Philly Pretzel Factory.
