Marple Sports Arena
Marple Sports Arena (MSA) is a multi-purpose facility located in Broomall, PA. It serves as the home for multiple area sports teams and leagues including lacrosse, baseball, field hockey, soccer, figure skating and more. The arena itself has a regulation size ice rink perfect for training or recreational use. There are bleachers on each side of the rink that can range from seating 120 to 400 depending on setup configuration.
The Marple Sports Arena was originally constructed in 1961 with additions made to it in 1993 & 2005 . It is owned by Marple Sports Association a non-for profit organization that has been around since 1967 serving the local communities. Their mission is too provide facilities for sporting events and recreational activities, as well as promote sportsmanship and physical fitness through such events.
The arena was built on land donated to the Sports Association by the Marple Township Board of Supervisors back in 1961. The construction cost for the original building was $116,000 . Along with it came a 100 foot diameter ice rink which could be flooded using a fire hydrant that sits opposite to its entrance. But soon after this gift, it started to fall into disrepair as little funding was provided for upkeep by township officials over time.
